Oh, isn’t summer the most relaxing time of year? For all my Canadian and United States friends, we especially make the most of the warm months.
Use these tips right away for summer safety, keeping the mosquitoes away, and other nasty critters.
Mosquitoes
We all have been hearing about natural mosquitoes repellents such as Lavender, Cat Nip, and my favorite, Citronella. It is not my favorite scent, but I will put up with it because it keeps those critters away.
Personally I avoid anything containing the chemical “Deet” for myself and small children. This makes Citronella, a natural and harmless plant scent, a perfect fit in so many ways.
It even helps to boost your energy level, so it comes in handy when you’re out hiking.
Inside a “Are We There Yet” kit, you can stick the citronella patches on your child’s clothing and feel assured, since they are effective for up to 12 hours.
In addition, you can place them on your picnic table and near the BBQ.
Here are more tips for when you’re on a vacation, a short getaway or a holiday…
Bee Stings
When out in the forest, and you’re stung, simply take some dirt and add enough water to make a thick paste texture. Then apply the paste on the sting, allow to dry, and just flick off. The dirt works well because it is able to absorb the bee’s sting.
Afterwords, an effective way to lesson the soreness is to use some BooBoo goo.
Tummy Ache
On the left foot, under the pad, in the upper middle of the foot, gently press. This is a reflexology point to soothe a tummy ache.
Enjoy your summer!
